Local Motion Surf Into Summer contest was held over the weekend and BayVI surf team riders did well!
This is the event every surfers look forward to every year, surfed by many of Hawaii's top surfers.
Kainoa Haas made the final in his division. He couldn't find a good back up wave in the final and came
in 6th, but was ripping out there all weekend.
Gregg Nakamura was surfing solid all weekend too and he WON his division! I think if he chose to be a
pro surfer, he could've easily done that. Yes, he is that good! He has a great job, wife and a daughter,
and surfs whenever he can find time. He is what BayVI is all about. He surfs because he loves to surf.
I must say Gregg had the best cheering section at the beach, his wife Kylee
and his 15 months old
daughter Kenzie! Gregg knew part of the reason he won was because of his cheering section, he carried
Kenzie with him to recieve his award. I think this was Kenzie's first win at a surf contest! ha ha. Kylee
told me Kenzie loves to be in the water, so i have a feeling she will be winning many more surf contests
in her future!
Full time husband, full time dad, and full time worker but still a pure full time surfer Gregg!
Congrats Kainoa and Gregg!

Mark Walhberg, Entourage Producer, Wears BAYVI T Shirts
You may have been watching the NBA playoffs and have seen Mark Walhberg, (actor and producer of hit-
series Entourage ), sitting courtside. Take a look at the shirts he chooses to wear, and you'll find him
wearing and supporting BAYVI.
It is humbling when somebody that is thrown boxes of free custom gear chooses to go out of his way and
support a brand. Like you and like us, he believes in what the VI stands for. He believes in what we, as
an alliance, represent. He believes in uncompromising quality, and he chooses BAYVI.
Thank you to each one of you who makes a conscious decision to choose BAYVI, wherever and
whoever you may be. It's a brand that we live and die by. And one by one, we do this together.
Go BAYVI.

Super Slo Mo and the Future of Surf Videograpy
There are certain videos that you come across in your life that really leave
a lasting impression on you.
It could be certain movies, certain music videos, or certain commercials,
whatever they may be. For instance, I will never forget when Doc Brown
sped to 88 miles per hour in a blazing trail of fire. I will never forget when
Michael Jackson's Black or White music video first introduced a 'state-of-
the-art' (at the time) technology dubbed 'video morphing' during the
concluding segment of the video. And for some reason, I undoubtedly will
never forget the Sham-Wow infomercials no matter how hard I try.
The Cover of Bruce Brown's Endless Surmmer.
When it comes to surfing, just ask around and we all tend to have our
personal video favorites. Enthusiasts of shortboard progression may give
you the name of 'Young Guns 3', while a more mellow friend might make
his or her case for 'Single Fin Yellow'. However, there do seem to be a
few consistent standouts that tend to make the top 10 for many. These
include videos such as Kelly Slater Black and White, Momentum Under
the Influence, and the Endless Summer series. You may find the recent
Campaign and Young Guns chronicles in a friend's lists as well.
But why do these videos stand out in our memory banks? What is it
about these videos that makes us play them over and over and over, to
the point where we begin to associate the 'Vampire Love Song' by Ash as
"that one song that plays during CJ Hobgood's giant Teahupoo paddle-in
wave in Campaign 2"? What is it about these videos that make us stop,
rewind, play again, stop, rewind, and play again in hopes that the more
times we watch it the more we'll be able to convey the actions of
progressive surfing into our own bodies?
Perhaps it's because these great videos all have one thing in common:
they're innovative.
Recently, while browsing through my morning reads of Surfline, I came
across a teaser clip of Dane Reynolds in Mexico filmed by a new, super
slo mo HD camera. Super Slo Mo is unlike anything I've seen before.
Much respect is due to the steadfast film crew for advancing the
technologies of surf videos. If this is a mere teaser shot, I can't hardly
wait to see what the future of surf videos entail.
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS : COVERED UP x BAYVI BBQ SURF SERIES #1
Wow, what a weekend it was! How was yours? We hope you were lucky enough to be in Texas because
the guys and gals down in Corpus Christi sure know how to do things in style.
From Hawaii to California, the UK to Japan, and the East Coast to Texas...there exists a group of certain
people that you are fortunate to meet. Regardless of where you're from, there's always a certain connection
when you meet people who love to live life. Passionate about what they're doing.
When it comes to Texas, we couldn't have been more honored to partner up with Brian, Jeremy, and the

they've got a surf team that can make a draining five footer look like a walk in the park.)
Happy Wednesday! Just wanted to drop by and share a few Polaroids I took, about a week ago. Hope

There was a HSA contest at Kewalos over the weekend and BayVI riders did really well, AGAIN!
Cole Yamakawa took 3rd in Jr Men division. I must say, this is by far the toughest division going against some of SURFER's Hot 100 surfers. Cole surfed solid beating them coming in at 3rd! Congrats Cole!
Our team rider and shaper Brice Yamashita took 3rd in Master division too! He surfed solid going against surfers who are doing some QS events. Congrats Brice!
Brice is an amazing shaper too. Everyone who rides he's board always got nothing but good things to say about his/her boards.
3 of top 4 surfers in Jr Men division & 2 of top 4 in Boys division sufers were surfing on Brice boards! Now that's a solid proof that Brice shapes great boards!
What can i say about Hana Harrison... She just rips! I don't ever surf with her because she makes me look like a kook out there! ha ha.
Hana took 1st in Womens division, AGAIN! I forgot to get her photo with yet another trophy so here's her photo i took free surfing!
Congrats Hana!
HSA Hawaii State Championship is starting tomorrow at Ala Moana Bowls. Good luck team!

Wade Tokoro in SF1ST Magazine
I love frequenting our local Japanese bookstore and magazine shop. They've got an endless collection
of magazines and books, and going there never gets old. (Not to mention that nextdoor lies the best
curry restaurant ever.)
Anyway, it was a pleasant surprise this weekend to stroll in to the bookstore and see Shaper Wade Tokoro
featured in the most recent issue of SF1ST Magazine. What a sick shot. Deep + committed at Pipe:
You really will not come across many people in this world like Wade. Throughout the years, he has been
a mentor, an inspiration, and an entrusted friend for which I am deeply grateful. Maybe it's because he's
from the Eastside . Guys like Wade, his brother Kerry, the Mijos, and a handful of guys from the Eastside
can be some of the most down-to-earth, respectful, and humble guys you will meet. They let their surfing
do all the talking.
Six years ago, I remember sitting down with Wade, and sharing with him the ideas of BAYVI before it was
even born. He helped provide feedback on the beginning BAYVI logo sketches, helped house our teamriders
when they were small, and provided guidance and support throughout the years. It is without a doubt that
our progress in Hawaii and Japan would not be possible without guys like him.
The next time the Triple Crown comes along, make it a concerted effort to see whose surfboard everybody
chooses to ride on for the most critical contest of the year. Champions and contendors Mick Fanning,
Andy Irons, Joel Parkinson, Sunny Garcia, Minetou Ushikoshi...the list goes on and on. It's no surprise
that the world's best surfers choose to ride Wade's boards. His boards rock.
If you're in need of a high-performance board, and would like to get a custom-shaped board directly
from Wade, give the man a call and contact him at:
